Self-catering beachfront accommodation in Still Bay
Escape the stresses of modern life in an elegant and immaculate beach home surrounded by pristine fynbos and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
Perched on a wild headland outside the coastal town of Still Bay on the famed Garden Route, Halcyon is located three-and-a-half hours from Cape Town and 90 minutes from George in the safest municipality in South Africa.
The main house sleeps eight in three luxurious, en-suite bedrooms and features an open-plan kitchen and indoor braai. The second, more intimate unit accommodates four and meets the same indulgent standards.
There’s great surfing, hiking, swimming and fishing right next to the houses. But you don’t have to leave the stoep if you don’t want to!
halcyon / halsɪən
adjective denoting a period of time in the past that was idyllically happy and peaceful.
With its pristine beaches, languid lagoon and unspoilt fynbos, Still Bay is a tranquil haven far removed from the stresses and dangers of city life. In addition to offering unfettered access to unspoilt nature and abundant whales and dolphins, the town is also impeccably maintained (everything works), extremely safe, and serviced by friendly shops, businesses and restaurants.
Halcyon – our house perched on a promontory away from the hubbub of town – takes this serenity to even greater heights. The name Halcyon was inspired by the impossibly sweet days the home has given us. Days of fishing and surfing, braaiing and snoozing. For us, these Halcyon days are what make life worth living. And we now want you to experience them too.
We are passionate about nature and living well. During your stay, you’ll be provided with complimentary organic veg, wild honey and/or free-range eggs from our nearby organic farm. At this delicate phase in human history we feel a duty to our children to make responsible decisions. Halcyon strongly encourages catch-and-release fishing – limit your kill don’t kill your limit.
Less than four hours’ drive from Cape Town and an easy 90 minutes from George airport, Halcyon is at once extremely accessible and impossibly remote.
We stayed at Halcyon for two days which was way too short! Halcyon is a beautiful, peaceful retreat away from life’s hustle and bustle. Our gorgeous bedroom overlooked the ocean – stunning views to say the least. We’ll definitely go back for longer next time!
Halcyon is a must-see! We spent 5 nights there in July and plan to go back next year. Waking up with the yellow crescent moon rising over the ocean was so special and the stars are something we don’t see in the cities anymore. It’s remote but close enough to town to not feel completely removed from civilization. I loved every moment!
Die hengel was fantasties!
